On May 13, PPG held the commissioning ceremony of the new powder coating production line of the Jiading plant and the opening ceremony of the PPG China Powder Coating Technology Center in Shanghai. PPG announced that it has completed an investment of USD 13 million (approximately RMB 84 million) in the Jiading coatings plant, which includes the addition of eight powder coating production lines and the establishment of a powder coating technology center to further strengthen the research and development of powder coating products.

It is reported that the new production line will produce high-quality general industrial powder coatings, automotive wheel coatings, heavy machinery coatings and other high-performance coatings. The new production line can increase production capacity by more than 8,000 tons per year. "The coating products we develop can meet or even exceed the sustainable development goals of PPG and our customers." said Vincent Robin, president of PPG Asia Pacific. "PPG's investment in China can not only further expand the production capacity of powder coatings, but also strengthen The research and development of powder coating products to meet the market’s growing demand for innovative and sustainable products."

 

PPG China Powder Coatings Technology Center covers an area of more than 2000 square meters (approximately 21500 square feet), has a laboratory equipped with advanced experiment and testing equipment, can adjust and test different product formulations, and provide technical support for customers in Asia Pacific and China and service. The powder coatings developed by the center's researchers have a wide range of applications, including applications in automobiles, building materials, engineering machinery, industry, 5G, and consumer electronics.
